About Search Wary

The careful shopper's second opinion. Look twice, buy once.

Why Search Wary exists

Most people meet a new brand through an ad or a search result, and then have to decide whether to hand over $50 to $800 based on the brand's own sales page. The coupon and "review" sites that rank for those searches rarely help. Many show star ratings with no method behind them, "verified" codes that fail at checkout, and 2,000 words of praise before any mention of the return policy.

Search Wary is the second look before you buy. For each brand we read the product pages, the prices, the returns, warranty and shipping policies and any subscription terms, and we write down what you'd want to know in plain English. Each review starts with a short answer, then pairs it with the brand's real, current offers.

What we do

  • We put a short answer at the top of every review: who the product suits, who should skip it, the price range and the best current offer.
  • We score every brand with the Wary Check, six yes/no questions answered only from the brand's published policies, each with a source link.
  • We show the date we last checked every price and offer, plus an update log of what changed.
  • We include fair alternatives in every review, including brands we don't earn anything from.

What we don't do

  • We don't publish star ratings, scores out of ten, or customer review counts we can't back up.
  • We don't invent coupon codes. If a brand doesn't publish a code, we say so.
  • We don't claim to have tested a product unless we actually have, and the review says so when we have.
  • We don't make health claims. For wellness products, every claim is attributed to the brand.
  • We aren't the official site of any brand, and we don't sell anything ourselves.

Who we are

Search Wary is a small independent publication run by the Search Wary editorial team. We currently cover 12 brands across seven shopping categories, and we add more as we finish the research. We don't have investors or brand owners, and no brand can pay to appear in a review or to change one.

How we make money

Some links on Search Wary are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the brand or its affiliate network may pay us a commission, at no extra cost to you. This is how the site is funded. It never changes a Wary Check result, a verdict or the alternatives we list. The advertising disclosure explains this in full.
