Editorial standards
The rules every Search Wary article follows.
Independence
Brands cannot pay for a review, a better verdict, a Wary Check result or a place in a buying guide. Affiliate relationships decide which link a "See today's price" button uses, and nothing else. Every review lists alternatives, including brands we have no affiliate relationship with, and we say plainly when a competitor is the better choice for some buyers.
Accuracy and sourcing
- Prices, offers and policies come from the brand's own site on the date shown as "Checked".
- Product performance claims are attributed to the brand ("HexClad says…").
- We list our sources at the end of every review and guide.
- When we can't confirm something, we leave it out or mark it "not stated by the brand".
What we never publish
- Invented coupon codes, prices, end dates or "only 3 left" scarcity claims.
- Star ratings, review counts, testimonials or "verified" badges we can't back up.
- Made-up staff names, headshots or testing claims.
- Health, weight-loss or treatment claims. For health and wellness products we add a health note, attribute every claim to the brand, and suggest talking to a doctor (or a vet, for pet food).
- Content copied from brands, retailers or other review sites.
Use of AI tools
We use AI tools to help with research and drafting. AI is never the source of a fact: every price, offer, policy and spec in a review is checked against the brand's own pages, and the date of that check is shown on the page.
Corrections policy
We fix errors quickly and openly. When a correction changes a fact, such as a price, a policy or an offer, we update the review and add a dated line to its update log saying what changed. To report an error, email hello@searchwary.com.
Updates
Offers and prices change constantly. We recheck brands regularly and around major sales, and we update the "Checked" date only when we have actually rechecked the facts.
